Welcome Global Perspectives students!
What is Global Perspectives?
The purpose of the Global Perspectives course is to help students learn to see the world and ideas from other viewpoints. We will examine nearly 20 key issues that our world faces during this two year course. However, the purpose of the course is NOT to memorise information, rather it is to learn to understand and evaluate various perspectives on these issues. We will look at these issues from a global viewpoint, individual countries (including China), our local area (Shanghai) and finally our personal/family perspective.
Key skills you will need to learn are how to think critically, analyze other perspectives, and express your viewpoint through writing and multimedia. The individual research assignments and projects will make up 70% of your grade and are more important than your exam which is only 30% of your grade. We will be using the edmodo website to track our schedule and complete homework. You can email me for our group code. I hope all students will study diligently so that we can learn from each other. When I think of a positive learning attitude, I think of this cool video.
